Cleaning Solvent for brake calipers

So whats the best way to clean a caliper and spindle arm etc???
i want to clean up the rear ctr calipers to show off its natural colour (goldish colour) without painting it and its like everyother used part dirt as help from brake dust etc....
so my question is whats the best cleaning agent for the calipers to get its mint colour again.

i dont think something harsh would be a problem because the calipers arent painted so it wont peel the paint or anything so throw some suggestions out.

btw if you have experience cleaning them let me know what you used and how well it worked.

I've always found simple green to be more of a fine clean. So brake clean first then simple green.
