When Does Your VTEC Engage????
Guys,
I was just wondering at what RPM does your VTEC engage???
Please state your motor type and vehicle in your post.
Just like this :
CAR TYPE: 97 Honda Civic Si
ENGINE TYPE: B16A -JDM
VTEC ENGAGMENT: 5000 RPM
ENGINE REDLINE: Unknown
I was also wondering where my engine actually redlines?? I know the TACH on the cluster starts the redline at 7000RPM. Is this still accurate or does the new engine have a higher redline??
Please let me know.
Thanks guys.

VTEC Switch-over point occurs at:
Engine RPM: over 5,300 rpm
Vehicle Speed: over 30km/h (20 mph)
Water Temperature: over 60° C (110 F)
makes max power 7600 rpm (USDM) or 7800 rpm (JDM)
Gasoline requirement 95 octane
Redline should be 8200 for a JDM motor. You need an SiR cluster son

lol..... yeah I went off topic .... because for most cars here the VTEC point is at the stock engagement point or ir doesn't exist on the car (my car (not the ttc) and the JSK mobile are both examples of non vtec cars) if your looking to tune your VTEC engagement point asking on a forum is not the place to do it .... a dyno is the onoly place to do it...
(there more of my off topic 2 cents worth)

My numbers are all stock, and likely what you have, just figure out if you have a 99-00 SiR computer or a JDM one.

I can adjust mine but I usually leave it at 5500 or 5200. Engine redline is about 9000 but I always shift at 8200. This way when you shift your already hitting vtec in the next and it sounds like
