Whats the difference between a D16Y7 Dizzy and D15B dizzy?

hey guys, my civic is sittin in storage right now and im STILL trying to figure out my idle problem. the timing is right on, my plugs and wires are fine, BUT i did figure out somthing funny. since the D15Bs dizzy was missing before the swap, my buddy just put in the old D16Y7 dizzy from my old motor. therefore, leaving the question, is there a difference between a Vtec and non Vtec dizzy? because if this is the case, ill have to hunt down a D15B dizzy!! any input is appreciated, thanks guys

I know the housings are different (slightly) which doesn't matter.

Chances are.. if its running and you are getting spark the dizzy is fine. Plus if you have an idle problem chances are its not a spark issue (unless its mis firing)

How about you tel us your problem instead of telling us what you think it is.

Yes they are different and in fact cost less than the d15b's but I couldn't tell you what the difference is.

the only thing i can see right now is that a couple of my plug wires are cracked... the cap and rotor and plugs are new though, maybe the wires are getting a bit old?

spray the wires with water and they will probably ack, meaning you will see sparks from the wires to the engine.
