a stronger tranny (which you dont really need unless you plan on boosting)

there are differences in heads and with how they flow, obviously they are different obd's

even tho the y8 might have lower mileage, the d15b would be your obd, so it would be a might easier and less expensive swap.

i think OBD type and mileage are key. performance is gonna be the same - 130hp at the crank. there is a 3-stage vtec, but i don't think its the same hp... the JDM OBD1 motor is prolly the best D motor you can get, for the money.

well the obd2 distributor won't plug into your obd1 harness.
So either re-use your old dizzy or solder an obd2 dizzy plug onto your harness.

they are not the same. The evap system is completely different, the dizzy clip is different, You'll have to use your obd1 alternator, the y8's have knock sensor's (if you are using a p2p ecu, you'll have to wire it up) OR you can chip your obd1 ecu use crome run a p2p map and disable the knock sensor in crome (pm zeeman for that shizzznat)

a p28 is for the d16z6, you'll be using a d15b, so i would chip it if i were you, but you could get away without chipping it, its just that the fuel/ignition maps will be off.

EG VTEC,OBD1
EK VTEC-E, OBD2, 2 Vtec Solenoids

Literally the same peak power output just different bands in getting there.
