Whenever the little windshield service sticker tells me to...

On that note, I think I need to change my transmission fluid, soon.

normal wear items (belts, hoses, fluids, filters, PCV, distributor parts, spark plugs, brakes, greasing latches, waxing/cleaning, lights, battery terminal cleaning, timing belt and water pump) that's all reg maintenance... then all parts that need attention MUST be replaced. Like if you CVs click, replace them. If the balljoints/tie rods make noise/have play - replace them. If it's leaking oil somewhere, change the seal, etc...

non regular maint is something out of the ordinary... like when a starter or alternator dies...
