oh ya i cannot crank over the engine by hand so tight im thinking its pooched

Try pulling the spark plugs out then crank it over by hand.
Is the timing set right?
When you get frustrated take a break, have a beer or a smoke, eat a sandwich, just get away for half an hour....clear your head. Always helps me. Its good that you are attempting this yourself.
