5500 for an sir, not sure about the d16y8 which i'm assuming is what you have in the car. not rying to crap on your thread, but what is the point in a vtec light? it notifies you that you hav eengaged vtec, but what do you get from that?

wire the vtec selenoid to your horn and 4-ways... just to warn the other motorists of the extra uncontrollable power

vtech lights are cool......lol

if you want something in ur cockpit to tell you your vtec is engaged, get a vtec controller...

if you are planing a swap later it will be useful

The Vtec in a GSR is insanely loud. (at least in my limited experience) I hit Vtec for the 2nd time since owning my car tonight (b16). It wasn't as mean sounding as the GSR I drove, but still had some pickup. I have no idea if anyone would know but I think mine kicks in at 6000 or just under, it's been Skunk2 chipped with no rev limiter so I worry about taking it close to 7500.

^^^ya...hehe
But actually, in crome you can have a low load vtec cross over and a high load vtec cross over.
RajunCajun:
There are some jdm p30 ecus that have vtec set at 5700 or 5800rpms, but if your ecu is chipped the vtec can be set at any rpm. I used to have a mugen chip that had vtec set at 4800, which was way too low (for a b16). Now i'm running a custom made (by me using cromepro) chip with vtec set at 5500.

hey Matt...i'm sure you got the answer to your question so i'll just comment on something else. Go for the b16a2. i was talking to joe at altech and another friend of mine and if I swap i'll go from 102hp to about 189hp on jdm spec engine. (the jdm has a lil more juice then the usdm which is around 170hp and a bit.) anyway. it would be a complete swap including all parts needed but i found the price a bit steep.
have fun with whatever you decide and don't take other people's critism to heart.

P.s. that was some funny shat by joker and ertw though...ha-ha!
