well well well looks like Shaun
wants to teach me something

see you posted a PIC of a C5 with a carb kit so does that meen there's no V-Tech?

then whats the point?

if there is V-tech then he had to wire it to something right?
hmmm ECU i Guess

so now expain how a 1982 civic with a CARB motor and no ECU is going to install a V-tech motor

aside from that explain how the Tach and Speedo would work

ok if those are to hard

where will he mount the motor?
extend to front end by 4 inches to fit the tranny ?

please continue the lesson

(your not the only one to see pics of a Carb kit)

have you seen one work?

i have

Not trying to put you down but posting pics isn't really impressive

that's right, no vtec. what is the point? the removal of vtec rockers and all that junk reduces friction in the valvetrain and head all together. bottom end will spin easier and faster. u dont need vtec when u have some crazy cams to make power high up. u just need to run rich at high rpm. easy with carb no?

no need ecu, u wont be running vtec. wtf is vtech?

aside from that explain how the Tach and Speedo would work
hey man u dont need speedo on a track car. tach is still possible to wire up. old old old old school mechanical ones baby

sorry i over looked the fact that he was talking about a what is it...3rd gen civic? i was referring to 4th gen because i drive one

cluster, dont mean to put u down at all...but when it comes to this old school stuff, i think i know my ****

----EDIT----
forgot to add one thing. why doest he have vtec? well for a track car, vtec is not the greatest thing. by that i dont mean for performance issues, of course it is good for performance. but i mean for maintenance issues. especially during long long racing, u want ur car to consume as little oil as possible. as u know, vtec does consume more oil. and that's not a good thing! people who track already add like a quart more oil into their cars than usual to compensate for oil starvation in certain cylinders under hard long cornering.

"The power house ..a.Hybrid Frankenstein. Matching a B16A head together with a B20B bottom end is quite a common sight in Malaysia. Notice the OER 4 independant throttles!"

thought this might help out the original poster

do not get me wrong, i didnt mean to say that vtec is a bad thing. but for reliability purposes, it's best not to have it for track. i understand that spoon, mugen, n1 etc all utilize the vtec technology for racing. but those race teams and company cars are sponsored and have a very large budget. therefore they can afford to rebuild engines after like...every race?

i thought i did. building a vtec motor into a non vtec motor is the same as dropping in a vtec only motor. notice that 82 civic has a b20 block and b16 head. well he could have put in a b16 head just as easily. wire up the vtec stelinoid, appropriate oil lines and poof. hook up an ecu and ur set. didnt say it was easy but obviously it can be done. and HEYY look at ppl who mod datsuns. dropping in like mustang 5.0L engines and 13btt, 20btt and the like...how do u think they do that? those cars do not have ecu's to begin with...hrm i wonder how they wire up the track and speedo?

thx for the link civic_hb96

now thats the bad@$$ civic I wanna see in my driveway except I want to use some ridicilous wheels like 20's or somethin huge wheels on 1 of these old school bubbles in black primer and instead of a body kit and stuff like that I'm gonna run lake pipes just for the hell of it LOL
another stupid question where can I get some more info on honda engines like specs and measuremeants and a cross referance chart
any problem years I should avoid while parts hunting ? or are they all pretty much the same?

Thx Burlinator
