Transmition Guide

Transmition Guide
I have read that the b16b transmition is very rare. I would like to know how to tell the difference. I think I will be removing the cluth before the swap occurs- ( that is what all have advised me). And I would like to know if I should get the cluth ordered from honda-( uncle works at honda- half price on parts) or what type of cluth should I use. I am not building a drag racer. Just a 4 door cruiser with a very good sespention and very unique engine. I understand that for that money I could have got itr engine- but then that just would not be a civic engine - would it. I am hoping to get just under 15 seconds runs with st. stl. headers, Exhaust, Air intake. - The suspention got coilovers, swaybars, bushings, ball joints and rotora big break kit.- 17 inch rims with 205/40's.
Can anyone know how I will run.--- Original civic type r in japan was speced to run 15.0 flat.
Also does the ecu have a governor on- or where is it so that I can remove it.

You should be able to check your engine code stamped on your block and the honda dealer will tell you what to order. As for your 1/4 mile et, you only have two parts to make your car faster, everything else either makes it stop faster or handle better. As far as guessing a time for you, you havnt really provided any real details.

But the Civic Type-R was a Hatchback wasn't it? Hence much lighter and Faster. Your a 4-door remember. And if you have a system and Subs you will be that much slower. The Rims and Big Brake kit will be slowing you down as well. My suggestion is do the Swap, Buy a Set of Cam gears and Book some Dyno time. I know a guy who can Reflash your stock Computer and Adjust your cam gears to give you some Decent power gains. PM me if you want the contact.

With your setup you should be good for a sub 15 second pass or so.
You mentioned that for the price of a b16b you could get an ITR. I would definately go for the ITR over a CTR. Displacement owns...end of story. Not to mention that if you have the ITR engine in your civic when it comes time to pass emissions then your car will be tested as a HOT ROD, seeing as it has a 1.8L and no civic ever came equipped with a 1.8L. And if you have a 1.6L (b16b) some places will be **** and tell you that civics came equipped with a 1.6L (d16z6) DOHC or SOHC doesn't matter its the displacement that matters and test your car normally. You will prolly have a very hard time passing e-test with a jdm b16b. I couldn't pass with a jdm b16a. But i was lucky enough for the guy to test it as a hot rod and passed with flying colours.
Not to mention that an ITR has way more torque and you said that you want a fun street cruiser, so in my opinion i think an ITR would better suit your needs. Unless of course, you just wanted to be different and go with a CTR. Either way, happy swapping! I'm sure you will be pleased with whatever engine you choose.

Dude Who told you that? They must be seriously retarded. When adjusting cam gears your moving around powerband yes. But when you make your peak torque at a higher RPM what happens?..YOU MAKE MORE HP!!!!!!!! Duh. On a Vtec motor you can get over 5hp to the wheels with just ECU tuning and Cam gear adjustments. And actually My dad has a Dyno sheet showing he gained 2whp with the installation of Cam gears on a Focus. He even wrote a story about it in Sport Compact National and the Toronto star.

/\ No it was a Full I/H/E Pulley kit/Cam Gears/Maf Sensor/ CHip'n and Tunin/ Started at 103 stock at Wheel's and Ended up with 128.That was on a 2001 Focus. But back to Honda, Stock Vtec cams are pretty hot and with minor adjustment's can Yield decent gains. Should be the Next THing after I/H/E. Cam gear's and Some dyno time. Guy's can do wonder's with your stock computer.
