timing belt, valve adjustment and water pump

I have a 97 civic with 190km, and when the car starts when its cold i have the same ticking noise mentioned earlier. The belt was changed @ 100km, as for the water pump, i dont know. How long before can the car last till its done. How hard is it to do all this work myself and is it covered it the manual from honda? Dont know much of these motors because i was around domestics my whole life. Thanks

adjust the valves by opening the valve cover, loosening the nuts one at a time, and tightening to spec with a feeler gauge. Just make sure each cyl is at TDC when doing it.

I assume you meant 100,000 kms you replaced your timing belt and not 100 kms...lol....anyways, if the previous owner was smart, he would have changed the water pump at the same time. It doesn't take too long, but, you will need an impact gun or a really strong air gun to take off your existing water pump pulley to get to the water pump. It would take some time but, do-able if you've got the time and the right tools. I'd suggest max limit for your timing belt should be 220,000 kms from 100,000.
