Suggestions With 6th Gen Swap
#21
Moe_Mentum, lemme know when you go ahead with the swap. I'd like to have an extra motor around in case mine goes kaboom. I'm in no hurry, so take your time, shop around. Also, remember most ppl don't sell motors for no reason or just cuz. The only way to get a really good clean motor is to have it pulled from a wreck or from an importer. But importers don't carry LS motors, so you gotta have it pulled from a wreck. This is a generalization, but most engines for sale by private parties have something undesirable about them... they could be hot, they could be beat to hell... or some other really expensive thing.... like maybe the tranny has grinds. Or it has a bad cylinder or something. Anyways, my advice is to look around, maybe pay a bit extra... and get it from a wrecker.

As one of the few members with an H22 Civic, I feel it's my duty to boast for the H22 swap choice..
Commuter Car purposes is probably one of the best aspects of having an H22 in a civic. In the city I barely ever shift past 4K and it still packs a serious punch. I never get that "LACKING" feel.
On top of that, keeping the rpms low and a light foot reveals OVER 500 KM/TANK! The greatest part is when necessary you can unleash the monster and go from 40km/hr to 120+km/hr in a matter of seconds.. All the while, maintaining honda reliability.
Like Bruno said an H22 is a challenge.. or just very expensive to get installed professionally. I know you've already made your decision and it's a good one! Just had to say my fill

Hey man if I could find a place to do it, at a reasonable price I'd go go for it. To tell you the truth, It shouldn't really matter to me if it's hard to install cause its not like I'm installing it! lol
What kind of civic do you drive and how much did you pay for your swap?

that's nothing... we have even higher mileage 99s in the club. I used to have a Saturn SL2 1993 with 206K MILES! - original everything on this car. The person I sold it to still drives it daily.

wow, still driving a saturn huh, lucky you is all i can say, i had a saturn adn it was pure garbage, i bought the stupid thing, looked nice, burnt oil like a sob, so the engine got replaced and the new engine had only like 120k, that thing burnt AND leaked oil, so then i did a headgasket job on it, so no more leaky leaky, but burning is still an issue, not to mention within one year at least 600$ worth of other parts... pure junk, boo to saturn
