stock springs rock

i must say i've been driving around on some stock springs for about 2 weeks now... coming from race springs... and everything is so much better...

the car will actually hold higher speeds around a few on ramps i tested before while on the race springs... only by like 5-10 kmph but still...

the only real downside is the wheel gap but honestly its worth it... cause now my car doesn't even look like it has anything good on it

Wonder if you need racing tires to appreciate the racing springs?

Now that you are a "Philanthropist" how about donating to Brett's Civic Enrichment Foundation? Ill make you a recipet for anything over $100.

hahahaha can't give what i dont have

i think the reasoning for the stock springs being better is that the camber is perfect so the tire then has perfect contact with the road... not like always having say 90% tire on the road then even less when it compresses you know?

I totally feel the difference as well I had springs and shocks in my car for a few years and unless I spend some real money I wont go from stock ever again. I really think you have to spend 3-4 grand to get "race" suspension, the crap that I always hear about people buying is just that crap, neuspeed, koni, eibach and so on, hook up a set of ohlins suspension and you will feel the difference, you pay for it though. I can go around corners much faster with stock suspension all day long. I had newspeed springs with white five ways on and the car handles better stock.

I'm 'bout the right suspension too.... doesn't have to be stock, and it doesn't have to be Ohlins.... just need the RIGHT setup for the right conditions.

Everyone keeps talking about the right set up for the right conditions. These cars are day to day drivers and they are driven on the street!! There are no "right conditions". One road bumpy the next corner is smooth, one corner is a 50km corner with the car sliding the next is a 200 kmph with no slide. I was refering to the all round driving and the only suspension that I have ever felt close to that is spoon sports full coil overs and the car I was in, the suspension was over 3gs. If anyone has done any kind of road course racing, they know that it takes almost three days to get the veh set up properly, then the next weekend, different track, different setup. For example, shannonville pro track, fast yet lots of bumpy tight corners, you need a little less spring and a bit more damping. Mosport long track, lots more spring and less damping, even then the older the pavement gets different set ups, the better tires get different set ups. The stock suspension on my car works very well for all types of roads, and it doesnt excell in one area, that is my idea of a good set up for street driving. The stabalizer bars do their job, there is little body roll till the car starts to drift then its all up to the driver.

Hmm.. that trick doesn't sound like a safe one. Regardless of how the actual lowering is accomplished, which sounds sketchy, losing 1.5" of clearance and still having the same spring rate would mean rubbing and lots of it.

My car has had race springs in it for over 6 years, wouldn't even remember what it feels like stock. I lowered my EL within 5 days of buying it and my 4g was lowered for 4 years too...

if b16civic is talking about what I think he's talking about, then the mod is legit and safe when done right. however, if he's talking about heating up the springs with a torch, then no.

you guys seen sport car revolution, the coilovers on the kia - did you see the lenth of those springs!!! damn!
