Anybody knows the actal steering ratio for 96-00 SI and 99-00 SIR? I like to upgrade the steering rack for my 98 SI to 00 SIR. Any gain? Thanks.

Steering ratio 20.3/17.7 (MT/AT) seems to me the only diff is between auto and manual tranny cars.... didn't see any SiR/Si differences... but google and ye shall find

Do a google search for

'steering quickener'

or 'howe steering'

It's a small gear that is installed in the steering column between the wheel and the rack that amplifies your steering inputs; for each turn of the wheel you make, it makes 1.5 or 2 turns (depending on the model you choose)

Installation should be done by a pro as it involves cutting the stock column and welding this bad boy into it. If the welds fail, your car can't steer. Bad!

Installation will be pricy, but probably less pricy than getting at the buried stock rack :>

it sucks...to wide

you could just swap in a manual rack(from like a 96 dx) as i am positive they are smaller ratio's.
