Stearing VERY Sqweekyyy....

ok im pretty sure my car was suppose to come with power steering but it was obviously taken out or something before i bought it.... so the car has no power steering right now... anyways randomly it SQWEEKS hard when im for example backing into a parking spot ill pull past the spot then put it in reverse and start cranking on it well reversing and its kind of a mix between a sqweeky grinding noice and its not just in reverse... its not the tranny... happens in any gear...

anyone know what this could be ??

if it had power steering before and the rack wasnt changed to a manual rack that could be the problem now your rack is probably dry on the inside.
but i would check you ball joints first jack the front off the car off the ground and turn your steering wheel from one side to the other and if you hear that the noise is gone then you found the prob.

Don't even bother with trying to fix a ball joint. It's safer and cheaper to buy new ones.. Lower bj are around $60 Cdn tire price

Tie rods are a bit more plus you'll have to get an alignment afterwards.

Balljoints can squeak, but so can steering joints. I thought my balljoint was squeaky so i replaced it, turned out to be the steering joint, right next to the balljoint. what a pain.
