springs & shocks VS. coilovers & shocks

This is what I received in an email response from ProParts.......

------
if you have money to spend go for springs and good shocks
option 1 - H&R sports (320+tax) & Kyb AGX adjustable (750 tax included)
this option will be only till feb 27 of this week

As for the 2nd option: I would recommend
evotion springs - $250 tax included and KYB GR2 - $460
I can do this till mid march.

I dont recommend coilover unless you want to go full coilover and race
it
on the track. if you do you will look at close to 1500 for the
cheapest
and 2200 for the expensive ones.
------

......does anyone have any input on this?? I am still confused on whether to go with springs or coilovers. Under World Customs quoted me at $600 parts + $250 installation for Skunk2 coilovers.

ask yourself, how often u gonna adjust your coilovers???

probably next to none! b/c i never did!
then u gotta counterweight that ****...... get springs and shocks!

if u want a good drop!

H&R Race or Neuspeed RACE
if u want cheaper like me, go GOLDLINE 230 taxes in, but mate them to struts, i say Tokico Illumina's

my Goldline's are 2.3" front/rear NO SAG GUARANTEE

.....so why are coilovers so much more expensive??

Under World Customs quoted me at $600 parts + $250 installation for Skunk2 coilovers. Does this sound right??

sounds right on the money ...... (proparts information)

underworld customs was not including shocks in their price ...

you want shocks ....

ok thats it ....

seriously if you want coilovers you have to pay for shocks too ... if you want them you have to be aware that to do it right you have to corner weigh your car ....every time you want to adjust your hieght .... coilovers are not something you get to play with period.

you have to understand most places want to sell you whatever you ask for it's money for them ... the affiliates of TCC care a bit more about your happiness and therefore will not recommend something thats going to cause you headaches.. that is why Proparts said it's a track setup to get a full coilover suspension

do shocks and springs, i have kybs with skunk 2 race springs, 2.5 drop high spring rates never scrape bottom out, u gotta learn to drive lowered just slow in driveways tracks etc but i love it i would never go back its a sweet ride to even tho they are pretty high spring rates, i am 100% satisfied

Good decision

you should go with an H&R spring, and contact Astroboy to see if he has any Tokico Illumina struts left for your car. They are better than the AGX and his price was lower on them than that quote u got on the AGX. That would be a sweet setup, gurenteed satisfyed.

Other sprin option would be an Eibach prokit, if you want the handeling without dealing with the headachs that come with a 1.75" drop, like alignment, camber, scrapeing on big speed bumps ect..

The question u have to ask to make that decion is are you doing this for performance or looks. If looks go H&R sport, if u just want the performance of a stiffer spring and nice shock go Eibach prokit, cuz its far less headachs.

All in all they are both the same performance wise, they are both close spring rates and they are both a progressive spring rate meaning they will provide a good ride comfort. But like i said the H&Rs drop is abit more so u might have more camber/ alignment issues to deal with...

contact Proparts (Sir_Yo on the board) and get one of the sets he named for you ...

in the end there is no "best" setup for springs and shocks .... it's all personal preference .... no one on this board has tried everything ....
