some head welding

this is for a customer who wants some strength added in the water jackets for his tt bmw setup. i've only done two ports so far, i need to get some thicker filler wire. i'll post up pics of the finished head later.

the head, dirty as hell...

area to be welded before cleaning.

after some cleanup grinding with a small carbide burr.

welded up.

do you even know what you are talking about? you need to pull your head out of your *** so you can stop talking so much ****.

the combustion chambers on the M20 head shift around a bit under high boost and they push the headgasket quite easily. welding this gap stabilizes everything and does not effect coolant flow.

making the water jacket narrower dosent affect anythng? ok dude you are right...nice comment about my head in my ***...kinda defensive for a guy who knows what he is doing. how do chambers that are part of the casting move so much that it blows a gasket? that much movement with the seat that close would cause more than a head gasket to go.

on those older 2 valve bmws the exhaust seats tend to spin as the aluminum fatiges.

though i dont fully agree with what you are saying i understand why you are doing that, your welding looks nice though and i will argue no more.

done.

spoke to the customer and he said that this is a weak sealing area for the head gasket as he blew it out at only 8psi so this will help seal it better once it is decked. he also informed me that this modification to the B25 head will not effect coolant flow as coolant flows across the head, not along it lengthwise. i've heard the same thing elsewhere about the valve seats...

not having any experience with this but..... it just seems like those welds are a bit large.. over 50% of the original water jackets are now metal.. maybe a smaller section like 20-25% would be a bit better.

but I guess bigger is better since you can just get in there and trim it down.
