Question Sohc Vtec motor or B18b1 for swap?

ok my mechanically inclined friends, i need ur help. i have a 92 lx with a D15B7 motor. I'm looking into an upgrade.my budget is 1000-1500. i was considering one of these 2 motors. which one is better? d16z6 w/everything or b18b1 w/everything? i wanna know how much everything i'll need will cost? or if u have any better suggestions. also i'll need help in finding the motor.

thanks for the help,
Brian.

2 cams buddy!
the d-series vtec is no comparision to the B18 whereas the B18 is more competitive to the B16 vtec's only on the street though!

but keep it off the streets!

you're not gonna get a b18b1 with the 1000-1500$ budget you've posted...take InVaDeR_HB's advice, get the dohc zc...unless you wanna wait and save up some more money
you can get a good condition b18b1 swap for $2000 on avg...but that's with you installing it!

the odb 1 zc's are more rare but you won't knwo unless you go out to find one...they will be within your budget and have 130 hp so they will be abit mroe pepy with mroe midrange than your currant engine...get a si tranny aswell for the gearing if you have enough $$ left over..your tranny will have longer gear making it slower... si tranny with a dohc obd 1 zc will be pepy as ****

i guess prices have gone down...
when i priced out mine they were asking 2000-2500 on average
i ended up getting mine for 1700...so i guess 1500 isn't that much off...but i think he wanted it installed for that amount...?

I would find a Vtec SOHC swap for $1000 or less and with the other $1000 put in a few more bucks and get yourself a jackson charger and you will pull on any B18b motors (stock motors)
