should I remove my catalytic converter?

sup everyone,
I'll soon be putting on a new muffler along with custom piping (2 1/4") on my SI.

should I keep the catalytic converter in, or just run straight piping?
what are the benefits of removing the cat? will it be louder/faster? can I still pass emissions?

I dont want the sound to be overwhelming, so I was considering 2 resonators if I go with no cat.

any thoughts?

You probably wouldn't pass e test without a cat. Just go and buy a high flow cat that is better then the stock one and you shouldn't have a problem with e test.

Yeah you go out and try to drive around without the cat and if you get pulled over and they see you have no cat... IMPOUNDED!!!! I have 3" custom piping and I use a high flow cat... I can gaurantee you will not pass emissions withought that cat... After all it does filter the exhaust from harmful emissions...

My old CX passed an e-test without a cat.

I got pulled over without a cat = $400 fine

I replaced my cat w/ high-flow.

My experience...

It don't do SHIET!

LOL, nothing??

aight so this is what I'm getting:
- going with no cat will screw me with both cops AND emissions.
- a high-flow cat yields no perf gains, so skip that
- hollowing out my stock cat will save me from tickets, but doesnt guarantee a pass on emissions

...sooo... the best option is to stick with my stock catalytic converter and run a custom 2 1/4" mandrel bent pipe with a resonator to dampen/deepen/de-fart the sound.

the car has no turbo.. the only engine mod thus far is an AEM cold air.

The "*** chasis" dyno has a margin or error of plus or minus 10 hp at least. Not very accurate if you ask me.

Unless you are running boost, the power gains from running no cat are minimal, so I wouldn't bother.

Nope, that engine just didn't have enough going on to create any smog

My second CRX was certified from a dealership with no cat. When I found out I put a high flow one on and there was absolutely no difference.

Honda motors need back pressure

Punching the cat will DECREESS Back pressure

You sure you get a power gain from less back pressure?
