Motor Imformation???
I am going to be doing a b16a1 swap into my 1990 Honda Civic Si within the next couple weeks and I have been hearing that with this motor being a little harder to get your hands on now that instead of all the engines coming from Japan (which have low KMs) some are being imported from Indonesia (which have a lot higher KMs).
Is there any ways to make sure that you are getting a motor from Japan and not Indonesia????
I don't won't to have any problems with the swap......I want it done right.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Motor Info???
Yah I figured it would come down to the place that you get the motor from.
Do you know of any places that do swaps that only get motors from Japan??? Or do you at least know of a parts place that only gets Japan motors???
Man I really wish I knew some people in the business that I knew and that I could trust!

I would just look for a fairly clean engine and do a compression test. there is no way to know how many clicks are on a motor unless the importer gets the whole front clip.
I can get you a 1st gen B16A swap for pretty cheap but with the bad mouthing of my name going on these days I don't know if I can trust myself anymore

No matter where a Honda motor comes from it's still a HONDA
Just make sure to pull the valve cover / compression test like T.O. said
Change timing belt and water pump
And get a warranty
and please don't start with "JDM motors have low clicks"
that don't meen jack now a days
a motors a motors a motor

NOT all JDM's are low mileage.. note, some take care of their engines real well, but what's been found by majority is that they don't change oil and maintain engines really well, coz they usually change cars every couple of years especially in Japan.. that's the hard truth, so it's almost like a guessing game with anything used!
And to answer the original post, it's not hard at all to find B16a engines.. I prefer the gen 2 (hydraulic clutch, tranny) and gen 2's are often newer.
