Short shifter question

My shifter is very sloppy and i was thinking of getting a short shifter kit to resolve the problem. Can somebody help me with installing one of these onto my 92 civic si? thanks

its quite simple actually. But the sloppy problem probably lies within the bushings. Get some energy suspension polyurethane ones and it'll feel real smooth and precise.

buy a good quality shifter like b&m and it'll come with detailed instructions.

B&M is the way to go man, and it's real easy to install
after you install it you'll think your in heaven the fist 3 days of driving then you'll get use to it, and think it's just a regular shifter again

haha... yeah... i learned 5spd in a car with short shifter... then now i got a new car, it feels weird... then the last time i had to drive a car with a short shifter again, it feels like heaven... but i'm use to my regular shifter now hahaha...

btw, b&m short shifter is good and not expensive... very good... also get some urethane bushings... makes the shifting nice and smooth and lasting too...

change the shifter bushings when you do the short shifter... its all apart anyways and the ES bushings are $15 i think from most places like JRP or PI.

IMO the bushings make a big difference.

It could be the OEM shifter itself. The bearings and O-rings in the bottom where it bolts to the shift linkage deteriorate over the years and the shifter becomes very sloppy. The car is a 92 afterall.

#12 and #24 in the pics can be replaced with new parts for very cheap. A new shifter and urethane bushings will fix things, but they are not your only option if you don't want to spend $100.
