Short Shifter Q

Short Shifter Q
Sup all.
I'm thinking about grabbing a short shifter. I hear B&M is the way to go, what do you guys think?
I hear from a lot of people, short shifter ruin the synchros in the tranny, is this true or a myth?
Also, once installed, does the actual shifter sit a bit lower? I want to install something beneath the climate control unit and I need a good 2" clearance so if it drops a couple of inches it's a bonus.
Thanks guys

i have a b&m short shifter in my ek for me b18c1 and its fine... it feels nice and is weighted nicely as well... i believe it sits a bit lower, but i am not sure.. its not right in the console like i have seen some people do when they cut it, but then you are just ****ing it up then.

B&M is a good and cheap option. Many people have them and are happy.
I've read that a SS can cause premature syncro wear because in some cases they allow you to shift faster then the syncros can match.

i just got my b&m short shift, part # 45075, and its awesome, for the price, u can't go wrong, it was like $50 and yea, it does sit lower than stock, but if u want something sit closer to you, i wouldn't suggest it as the B&m one are straight, not the single bend or double bend.

I dont know about the syncros thing.. My first tranny ground 2nd and 3rd so bad it wouldnt go in at 8000rpm.. This was with stock shifter setup.. Now ive got all new bushings on my linkage as well as a skunk2 short shifter.. Grinds uptop of 3rd but it always did so i dont think its hurting the syncros.. It sits a couple inches lower then stock as well.
