Guess the key words are "over time". By resetting the ecu, you will feel the difference more than the gradual change. In the end the effect will be the same IMO.

Maybe your car got faster, b/c of the figgin' cold weather. I don't see how resetting the ECU can gain HP. Couldn't you just remove the ground or power wires for 1 min, instead of removing fuses.

Get receipts from the pump, and just write the mileage of your car on the back. That gives you everything you need to track mileage...date, time, kms, price of gas...etc. That's what I've been doing for my diagnostic issues with my saturn. It uses a tank of gas every 160-200 kms. Unacceptable!! So...I do tests, replace parts, track mileage.

yes but you will lose your radio presets, and for some newer cars you'll need to re-enter the radio code. Pulling the fuse is the best way.

in your head, in your head, it's all in your head.... ok resetting the ECU will help but maybe your presing the gas pedel a little less or warming up your car a little less than usual. i have a great mod for getting better gas mileage, drop in a suzuki swift engine and that's it.. those things are amazing on gas.

boy am i funny...
