Redline - 96 si coupe

I was wondering what the stock redline is for a '96 si coupe? My rev limiter is set to 6400rpm but I thought redline was closer to 7200? It seems like as soon as the vtech kicks in so does the rev limiter and I'm forced to shift. Any suggestions? I don't really want to rev higher than 6700 (no power past there anyway), but having the limiter kick in at 6400 gets really annoying. Thanks in advance.

Lol, thanks for the comment about the vtec, I deserve it. But anyway, it's a 5spd and my limiter is at 6400 and you guys are saying it should redline at 7200 right? With max horse at 6600? I'll have to get a new CPU or something right?

I think you got a automatic cpu or something. Did you do something to it or is that how you bought it? Thats really wierd.

there really isn't a point to rev that high on a stock 96 si... haha... its an economy car, enjoy its decent fuel consumption... i don't even remember the last time i rev over 4000....

Thanks guys,

I don't usually rev that high anyway, but sometimes it's annoying when it kicks in. I'll look into getting a new CPU at some point.

like tdot sir said.. it would be a waste to spend 200-300$ on a p28 ecu and conversion harness. The y8 and z6 maps aren't even the same.

yeah, i was thinking more along the lines of finding a stock ECU in that has the correct rev limit. I don't want to go past 6600 anyway, but it'd be nice to be able to get there!
