rear disc conversion

hey guys 2 quick questions about doing a conversion

is there a difference between a GSR and SIR rear disc conversion?

also will either of these two conversions fit under the stock ex 14" steelie rims or will i have to get larger 15" rims for winters?

thanx
jordan

I'm pretty sure both SiR and GSR rear discs are the same size.

How much would the SiR rear disc conversion go for? Would I have to swap the front discs also to SiR's also, If I go for the SiR rear disc conversion?

There really isn't any huge performance difference going with rear disks. It is more for looks, even on the SiR. About fronts, if you are planning on putting on anything heavier than the stock wheels (i.e. cheaper 16"+ wheels), you should be upgrading your front brakes.

Remember brakes before motor....you life could depend on it, that's why Bruno has amazing brakes and no engine work....

^^ that's correct Mark, at this point my stock engine can get enough speed to get me into trouble... so before any more power is added, I had to ensure jaw dropping stopping power. And for the record, rear disks are way easier to maintain, I HATE working on drum brakes, they are just plain primitive... for that alone the upgrade was worth it.

for the M/C the bigger the better, but the SIR one is a direct swap and it's 15/16 size. Very good! The prop valve has to match a car with rear disks, but if you have ABS, then use CDN SiR, if you have no ABS, then use USDM Si.

basically the rear trailing arm assembly plus e-brake cables and hydraulic parts (prop valve and master cyl recommended)...

this is why we dont' list individual parts:

you understand it becomes overwhelming if we were to list each individual part... get an assembly, whatever you end up missing, go to the dealer and get it.

99-00 Civic Si prop valve is the same as all 96-00 Civic hatches
Coupes and sedans need to swap out the prop valve when adding rear disc. Here are the part #s:

2000 Civic Si 46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING

2000 Civic Dx 3dr 46210-S04-902 VALVE ASSY., PROPORTIONING

** Note the Si = our SiR, therefore, I am sure the part number will match **

As for MC upgrade, just use the SiR one. But you can swap without upgrading to it. Study has been done and people have confirmed that there are no real difference. But PV is crucial.

Also, try to use SiR e-brake cable line, GSR seems a little bit shorter.
