Question about CAI's...

Ok, I've got a question, hoping you guys can help.

with my current AEM GB: http://www.torontocivics.com/tccforu...threadid=12622

Some of the members obviously have swapped engine in their Civics. They would like to know what CAI to get. For example:

i have a b16 in my car, so i'm wondering if the normal 88-91 cai would fit? or do i need a 99-00 cai?

Which one does he take? Same thing with others...

GSR engine in a 93 Si...?

guess it would all depend on a few things..
if it's designed to bolt up to the engine only.. (hangers i mean..supports)
is it designed to bolt up to the engine well..
combination of both...
throttle body sizes will play a factor..
all above plus if it's designed to fit into certain parts of the inner body..
any change in height of intake placement..will it clear the hood??

a lot of things to consider..
i'd suggest finding someone that has one for either your engine or body atyle and asking them real nice if you could "test-fit" it..

hey si veloz (forgot your name), i guess you could do that right, but wouldn't it b a pain to get the cai off? cuz i heard a lot of stories, but than again they can be myths. well not myth, but just easier way i guess. like i heard you have to jack up the car to put the 2nd piece on (the one that goes to the ground). and some say you could just turn the wheel all the way to the right or something. i dunno, i have short ram, so i'm not sure aobut he ordeal here. sorry si veloz, forgot your name.

..

if it's a 2 piece probably all you'd need would be the top half to check all the bolt-up locations..
the bottom could pretty much be eye-balled..

just so long as everything looks close you could make a few minors to make it fit..

If it's a 4th gen. you need to get a 4th gen.intake because of the battery! Unless you relocate the battery.
And for intake's, my preference is a PRM intake. Like it better than my AEM because you don't lose low end torque!
