question about adjustable cams!

question about adjustable cams!

i plan on throwing some Hayame adjustable cam gears for my b16a. it will be my first of many mods to come. my question is kind of newish but do you adjust them when the come out of the box, how do you know what number is best?

Well, what's your setup? If you're running stock cams, then 0 degrees sounds about right.

i get the cams first. dont go with anything more than ctr's and even then you need to get some inner valve springs from a type r on the exhaust to run anything more than what you already have.
you need to dyno the car to dial in cam gears properly.

i would get the bolt-on's first before worrying about cams or adjustable cam gears.
Oh, and when you do decide to get adjustable cam gears make sure to get ones with more than just 3 adjusting bolts, they are known to slip, and if those bolts slip you can pretty much kiss that engine good-bye. There are plenty of brands of gears that have 4, 5 and even 6 adjusting bolts for extra peice of mind.

i will definetley keep that in mind, thanks!

ive been looking around for an exhaust and header, do you have any good combos for my ek. i was leaning towards a dc 4-1 and apexi n1 exhaust! how are the megan headers?

i'd stay away from DC headers, i had a DC 4-1 ceramic header and it rusted out pretty bad in about 8 months. Not to mention the fact that it had small primaries and a very small collector.
Don't know about megan. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.
