push starting a turbo car

i know this isnt suppose to be in this section, but i feel its tech related, im purchasing a 89 dodge colt turbo, and the turbo is mechanical, so its constantly on, but at a low psi, the starter is bad on the car, the guy claims that push starting the car is impossible, because it wont get enough compression, and he says the starter could be shorted out, so if i hook it up, and push start the car i could ruin the electrical system. Is this all true? Is there anyway i can safely start the car? thanks guys

I don't see how push starting the car could ruin the electrical. I think this guy just wants to make sure you never see the car run. He's prolly hiding a great deal of problems this way.

Where are you located man? I can come by and take a look at it and help you get it started.

Here are some pics of mine. http://gallery.4g61t.org/v/coltr/

I built the entire thing. Even the motor from scratch.

Ignore the red loose wire, it's just a wire used to ground out the ecu while setting the timing.

looks to me like you're being jerked around.

first of all, if you can't get enough compression push starting, you can't get enough compression period.

don't buy it unless it you can take a ride, I'd hate to see another kid get ripped off because he thinks he's buying a sweet ride.

DON'T BUY IT

funny thing is, if he is selling the car, he should be able to tell u what is wrong with it... i don't think a maybe is good enough when i am giving some cash

sounds like the guy when i was thinking of buying a 240sx... oh, its a one of a kind, it only has 80,000 original kms on it... it runs so mint you'd have to see it to believe it...

can i test drive it?

oh no, its already parked inside so i can't move it because all the other cars are in the way
