Pulling a trailer w/ civics...

Sup

I'm thinking of using my EK sedan to pull a sea doo. Now the sea doo doesn't way very much since 2 ppl can carry it no probs. Was wondering if anyone has tried w/ a lowered civic??? I gotz 1.75 F 1.5 R and wondering if my I would have any problems. I've read on seadoo.net that using a civic to pull is fine but to take it easy which I will. Just wasn't able to find any info on anyone pulling w/ a lowered car. I'm thinking I won't be able to go to locations where the ramp is steep cause I don't think i'll be able to come back up....lol

Thanks,
David

well seeing how your riding stock shocks I'd say they will get raped even more....your car coudl really be unstable at speed with a trailer and stock shocks on race springs...can be done just watch it

the only variable is the lowering...... some civics come from the factory with hitches in the back..... so it should in theory be ok

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm currently not running on stock shocks but rather KYB GR2's. I've already been through stock shocks as well as KYB-AGX's. My springs are not race springs but rather H&R SPORTS. So looks like I'll be fine as long as I take it easy, which I will.

Thanks,
David

I don't even take 4 ppl in my car I dunno how you'd even think of pulling a trailer. you can, but it's pure car abuse

Ugh, Tow with a Civic!!!!!! thats Blasphemy. Your just wearing the **** out of anything. Suspension,Unibody's getting tugged and yanked at. Rough on the Tranny and Clutch.More stress on the engine. Sure it can be done but I wouldn't. Thats what trucks and jeeps are for. If your insurance is low enough Id get a crappy little S10 or an Old Ford ranger or something. Tow Beater. And jsut think, You can haul junked car's and car parts whenever you want

set the rears on stiff, giver ******* a seadoos tong weight will be less on the rear suspension than a big subwoofer. Depending on the trailers design of course. just dont carry passengers.

If your really concerned about it, do some before measurments of ride hight and after its connected to see how much its sagging... camber ware ect... dont stop on any uphills, watch out for speedbumps.

Why are people telling him the shocks will go, and to set them to stiff? Shocks have nothing to do with be able to carry a load - springs are what carries the load - shocks only absorb the bumps!!

With lowering you'll have less suspension travel - but your spring rate will be greater than stock - so you will have less off a drop in the rear with the trailer on (think about cars with stock suspension and a big system - the *** sits so much lower on those then on lowered cars).

As long as you balance the load on the trailer you'll be fine to tow with a lowered civic - make sure you get an insert that positions the ball for the trailer at the correct height.
