problem with d15

problem with d15

hey ok well my cousin just bought a 89 civic with a d15 but he's having problem with it. NOTE: the engine doesnt shut off. however when he's in 2nd the car jerks and seems like it didnt go into gear and and he'll step on the gas and it'll rev up and then all of a sudden the car starts to drive...but it doesnt alwayz happen it'll happen sometimes.. is it the tranny? dizzy?

sounds like the clutch is slipping.

What happens when he shifts normally? Will it burn/slip? Meaning the engine revvs up quickly but the car does a second or two to actually grab.

ya thats what i thought too but like while he's driving in 5th after he's changed it it'll do it all of a sudden...but the clutch is already engaged so why would it happen again?

ok its not the clutch. we filled the gas up and it worked fine except for twice where it did the same thing. so should i change the fuel filter and drop in some injector cleaner? wat else?

if the clutch is that badly worn it will slip like that...

i am agreeing with chris on this one... if the motor is reving up, it means that it is doing what it supposed to be doing so injectors and stuff wont have anything to do with it... if injectors were ****ed it would rev up at all..

i had the same problem with my tranny but its auto, exact same thing happened to me, started on the highway it was scary

lol at filling it up and thinking that fixed a clutch problem. your clutch is probably toast like these guys said. mine would slip just like your saying. and i looked at it and it was downt to the rivets.
