The Perfect All Motor Set-Up B16 ?

What do you think the perfect all motor set-up for a b16 would be?

The most hp and most torque

I'd say go Vortech S/C if you're going forced induction

Best all motor, hmm, some nice super high C.R forged pistons along with con rods and larger bore with stage III cams of your choice

I hope that was a joke...

For all-motor, are you talking about stock internals or all-out rebuild?

THANK YOU !!!

I said all motor, not forced crapola ! I'm talking like cams, pistons, valves, port and polish, intake manifold, headers. etc.

Maybe some externals as well such as MSD, fuel rail, etc.

Give me some brand names of these for future reference

rice... if you are really looking into getting all this, I would suggest the following:

upgrade your valve springs and retainers, port and polish the head at a reputable shop *cough* Leitner *cough* LOL maybe put oversized valves in, maybe not... b16civic will know best what works... and get CTR cams if you can afford them (best torque AND hp is always OEM), or you can get some other cams depending on your tastes. So, that's headwork in a nutshell. About $3000+ worth of work there.

Naturally, underdrive pulleys, cam gears, lightened flywheel, those are all understood to be things to do on a all motor setup.

Bottom end and reciprocating assembly... some high compression pistons of your choice, blueprinted and balanced bottom end, all OEM replacement bearings and ARP head studs... maybe port the oil pump for better flow... You can consider either a spoon head gasket or a OEM honda one... I think Honda one would be just fine.

This kind of a setup n/a will prolly make about... with the right tuning... in the 180 hp range. Now... Leitner has built 200 hp n/a B16s before... so money is the only concern.

180 whp isn't bad.

What about things like msd, fuel rail, intake manifolds, etc. That type of stuff.

I mean like, what is the most horsepower and torque I can get out of a jdm b16 without adding a bottle, super, or turbo ?

I guess it all comes down to if you like to take the car for a spin at the track once in a while or if you want to drag/race someone at the red light.

Personally, I love the sound of BOV LOL

If you are even considering n/a and spending half of the money mentioned above...sell the b16 and start with a different platform.

I'd hate to see you spend 10k and get blown away all day long by a guy in a rusted out ef with a zc swap and a junkyard turbo.

ahhhh the never ending debate between the B16A

the B16A is a very nice motor, it indeed has bigger brothers, and they make much more power in the long run if built with the same plans.

however, the question in hand is a B16A, not selling a motor and getting another one or turboing the car or any type of F/I.

With Honda parts, you can build a fairly agressive B16A like bbarbulo said and it'd include...

the head
tuneable aftermarket cam gears of your choice
CTR cams
ITR valvesprings (at least the exhaust side if not both intake and exhaust)
Titanium valves of your choice.
ITR retainers
Bronze valve guides
wild port and polished head.
thinner headgasket (Spoon or Mugen)
ITR or Skunk2 intake manifold
ITR or Spoon throttle body
*optional* Ventuli plate from Spoon if you want better midrange
Intake of your choice (I'd choose J's racing, ARC, Mugen or Apex'i)

the block
blueprinted and balanced rotational assembly.
lightened crank (knife edged if you will)
CTR 0.25 oversize pistons
bore & hone cylinder walls to accept this nice big OEM pistons

the tranny
JDM ITR/CTR LSD tranny with final drive
ITR flywheel or stock lightenend or aftermarket 4kg + flywheel
At least a ITR clutch if not aftermarket.

that's all I can think of for now

Okay...

But now put a price tag associated with each one of those things you described...

We will be talking big bucks with relatively no pay-off. (maybe 180whp)

(ps - don't get me wrong...I love the b16 but only as a fun, reliable daily driver. If it is serious performance you want and you are commited to staying N/A...well, the b16 is just not going to give you the return on your investment)

you coudl make over 200 whp on a b16 but it is gonna cost a **** load of money and nothing spared like a hytech header atleast 12.5:1 compression toda c's or jun 3's wild port job rods pistons and lot's of ******* rpm's and no streetability....jsut get some ctr cams and valve train...maybe even a quick clean up of the ports and adjsutable gears then tune it with your vafc...then call it quits and start with something else if you want more power...easy as that
