I was wondering if anyone ever mod their OBD II? By mod, I mean anything.

Or should I go with rechip?

Can you program for more speed? Would moding fuel cut off cause the increase of redline?

Any problem anyone have encounter?

It's not cheap and not very many have done it. So finding feedback on this would be next to impossible.

It would be chepaer (and easier) to get convert to OBDI and run any of the hundreds of programs out there for it.

YA, you can do all that with piggybacks or reprogramming the chip, but it depends on how heavily supported your vehicle is. You may wanna see who chips the TRD cars.

Is there really a benefit to it? I read that the ECU is programed to meet all of North American emissions etc... reprogram or changing it can cause it to fail. But I can always change back when it is emission time right? Wouldn't it be better to go with preformance ECU like Mugen or TRD?

Another thing, when going with turbo, the ECU has to change anyways right?

Not really, I really can't see a benefit of chipping a stock engine unless you want it to fail emissions like you said. Once turbo, you have to make provisions for boost that the stock ecu parameters were never set up for, so you have to either intercept the signal before, modify it and send it to the ECU and then have the piggyback control your injectors using the maps you set up, or you have to have a new chip burned that includes new maps for under boost. If you plan to make the step to turbo, I recommend you hold off until you are truly ready to do it.

That is really true.... I am just asking all the questions on. If I was going with the turbo, some turbo kits comes with fuel management right? How much boost to I have to run to require it? Still in the saving up stage... in the summer maybe it's turbo time.

Wait...just thought of something. Isn't there a devise like the turbo boost or controll that you can use to add speed etc... with the OBD 2.
