You need to give more info, what do you want to do with the car, are you going to take it to the track? This just going to be your everyday car? What kind of budget are you working with or is there a set amount you want to not go over? You have to decide what end result you want and then go from there. Also, doing a lot of research is key. Get some idea's and what options you have with your 6th gen vehicle.

ok This is my summer car, I would like to take it to the track occassionally, but Im not looking to get some crazy power, maybe like 170 whp. I would be really happy if i could get to that. my budget isnt huge obviously...Im 18 and work part time, so all the parts i put it is gonna be over a period of time, not gonna do everything all at once.

don't waste your money on an FPR stock is fine, same with the ignition system and fuel rail.
And ITB's on a d-series...come on now, ITB's are $$$$$$.
I would suggest a lightened flywheel and better clutch. Then get a little bigger throttle body and better intake manifold.
A cam is a good way to increase power, but anything above stage 1 will require different valve springs and retainers, and will usually require a bump in compression to get the most out of them. Milling the head is one way (and a cheap way) to raise the CR a little bit.
But make sure not skimp on the tuning. I don't know how necessary tuning is with just bolt-on's, but definately required if you are using different cams and/or raise the compression.

home made ITB's arnt that expensive, he could always buy someones project or build it himself, worth the try if he wants to spend his money that way

Turbo would be the cheapest/easiest way to obtain your power goals. Getting the most out of an N/A engine takes a lot of money. Machine work isn't cheap and to reach anywhere close to your goal you will either need to swap to a b-series, boost the d or start saving for some headwork, really high compression pistons and some really aggresive cams.
170whp out of a n/a d-series.

performance spark plugs? NGK v-power all the way...they're the cheapest plugs and have a copper core. Go to honda and buy theirs, they're the same thing just in a honda package and cost way more.
IMO stock plug wires are best, thats why they last 8 years. I've seen dyno charts comparing the aftermarket plug wires with OE ones and the honda wires definately had the smoothes lines. There was no real power difference between the aftermarket and honda wires, even on high hp applications. But the aftermarket wires dyno plots were very choppy, the lines weren't nearly as smooth as the honda wires.

well have you priced out comparable machine work and extras that would be needed to make the WHP you want N/A on your D?

right there you made your thread worthless. there are very few D series engines making over 150-160 whp. and we're talking about fully built engines that would cost you $7000+ to build.

Slap a halfass custom turbo kit on for $2000 and you'll have 170whp, but N/A.....not likely.....not on a d-series and not without spending lots of money like bruno said.

I was gonna say you ONLY want 170whp from a D series? lol You should be able to get a B18b1 complete swap in the car for around $3000 and its gonna cost u way more to even get close to 170whp with a D series N/A.

maybe turbo but 200whp even for a B series N/a requires ALOT of work.
