Your mileage will depend on a lot of things like driving habits, engine oil type, proper maintenance.

How fast are you going on the highway? When I go 120km @3000rpm, I currently get around 550km with a 50L tank on my 1.7L. A bit more in the summer. Oh yeah...also using 5w20 mobil1.

Pretty sure if u are going around 90-100km and keeping revs around 2500, your mileage will increase significantly. anything above 110km/h...u're basically just burning fuel without much gain. I'm sure most people would find that a bit slow, but if u want amazing fuel economy...just drive slower.

i am going around 2400rpm at 120 km/hr.... and i am getting 450 km per 36L fill... i just have a y7...

oh... and i drive 160km/hr usually every day for about 25 mins total going to work cause i'm always late... its cause my revs are so low going 160km/hr... i think something like 4000 or something... i max out at 195 in fourth gear.... and still have 5th gear left.

I wish I had what you were smoking...your y7 should be limited (governed) at 195km/hr PERIOD.

I think peoples are confuzed.

stock gears/tranny B16 B18C rev at almost 5000 5th gear when doing 120km/hr (I know I was shocked too after I got my swap from D16Y8). who da heck really drives 100km/hr on the highway? I drive at least 110 max 120(cuz I'm cheap). I miss my D16!!!!!!!!!!

Kwik is right about the gas though. Colder air will tell computer to feed more gasssss. Mileage goes down a bit. Doesn't help if you have winter tires too. You should lose quite a bit mileage with those 2 factors. You THINK your car is faster with cold air....it's just more fuel. HAHAHAHA

OH yeah D16Y8 = 500-550km/38-40L tank

B16 and up =425-475km/38L tank. Could be all the revs accelerating and highway too.

I checked. It's 4600RPM at 120km/hr.

yeah 310 is very low unless you have a B16 OBD1 with mugen/spoon chipped ECU.

If you have a stock SiR like mine, then you should be up there where I am no?

OK let's check this out.

1. Winter tires?
2. Where do you shift(RPM)?
3. changed your gas filter yet? Purge your fuel system? Using 91 minimum? no engine lights on? no engine lights BLINKING?????!!!!
4. reset your ECU yet?
5. do you have a 400lb system in the trunk?

There is NO explanation unless your car has a built head with CTR cams OR a turbo.

Gas tends to thicken in the cold so yea mileage will be crappy in winter. heres a tip tho. Your better off filling in freezing temps then warmer days. Cuz u fill more on colder days cuz the gas particles are closer n thicker but the computer only counts them in liters

I dono how but my 95 EG manages to keep a 3200 RPM at 120km/hr
Empty your trunk of useless crap and work out abit if ur chubby lol.

OH and a great tip is ..Search for the fifth gear video on TCC about driving a VW on one tank of gas. I cant remember what the title really was but its allll abotu driving in the best way to increase mileage .

Good luck..

man it feels good to post after such a long time.,

nah man.. that wont work.. check out the gas pump.. it always says, "Volume corrected to 15 degrees Celcius"

would've been a cool trick tho!

There is nothing wrong with his statement if you read the lines again.

There is no mention of "4th gear" in this quote, cause for Y7, 5th gear will reach about 160 or a bit lower at 4000 RPM.

Then he talks about
i max out at 195 in fourth gear
Which has no relation with his previous statement whatsoever. He was talking about two different things.

I get about 400-450km's to a tank of gas and i have a fully built head (b16) w/stage 2 cams and 11.5:1 CR.
Something is definately wrong if your only getting 300km's to a tank of gas. Could be time for a tune-up.
I understand that in the winter gas mileage drops, but it shouldn't be that low. Unless you drive the bag out of your car all of the time.

Right now, I am getting about 10.5km per liter. I prefer local driving over highway now.

I didnt know one could drive without the MAP sensor plugged in. I do learn something new everyday.

The MAP sensor is the little thing on top the Throttle Body correct?

u're correct. Map Sensor is the black plug that on top the TB.

but i was saying that the Map Sensor from my car harness isn't connected to the ECU adaptor. So the wire from the harness is disconnected.. maybe while i was connecting my VAFC. i accidently disconnected it.

I'm getting around 500km a tank now with my B18C5..
impressive milage, I'm happy about it!
so whenever I disconnect my map sensor, I'll get this big backfiring again to pimp...lol...jk jk
