? on lowering

would running a good set of lowering springs like neuspeed or h&r with only a 1.5'' drop on stock shocks wear them out fast? would this be a good idea since i dont want to spend the money for some true coilovers?
thanks,
Matt

I have neuspeed springs on my stock shocks right now, and it is lowered 1.5". They've been on for 2 years now, and still not even a bouncy ride, nice and clean. I haven't driven through any winters though. If you can't afford a nice setup, these will do fine for the time being As long as you may have enough for a new setup in a year or 2

i think my shocks are starting to go... but they weren't in the greatest of shape before the race springs went on... but even with shitty shocks it still out handles the stock set up i used to have.... becareful if you get race springs though... i'm in trouble right now cause of mine... that being that i need new shocks, tires and a camber kit...

what is the point of jsut gettign springs....the real deal down the road...oh god I hate this.... cheap as **** but want to go fast and have a car that looks liek it handles good ...you can put springs on stock shocks just like i could sniff drain cleaner you can do it but what is the point you will need new shocks real soon anyway and then you will actaully have a "performance" suspension done right not the stupid ricey way which is a trend for all the young peoepl who cna't afford to modify there car so jsut go half *** so it looks like it's fast sounds liek it's fast and looks liek it handles good...a set of koni reds or kyb agx's will run you 500-700 bux so why not save for another month or 2...or even wait till summer seeign how winter in on the way by then I'm sure you could afford somethign better.....neuspeeds with agx's woudl be decent....

wait till after winter man... I dont understand why you would want to lower the car before winter...most people go back to stock in the winter, then lower it again in the spring... Well I guess you could plow your driveway with your bumper if u get a good set of winter tires...

Point being, it just makes no sense to do a half *** suspension setup right before the snow falls... save all winter and buy new shocks and springs and swaybars/ tie bars/ strut bars/ tires...

I am getting them after winter, and i just got into a little accident so you know how that goes down with insurance and the deductible and all...
I'm just seeing my options.
A buddy of mine wants to cut his stock springs. His civic probably won't last the winter anyways, running over 320k now on the original motor. Anyways... my point is I could do worse.

Ok I understand your situation, sorry for misinterpreting (thought u were going to lower it now)

I seriously advise you convince your friend not to cut his springs, its really bad, not only for the life of the car, but the spring rate becomes messed, and it makes for an unsafe and very uncomfortable ride... and he will look funny bouncing off the pavement all over the street... THis type of behaviour is what provokes the "ricer" image of civics...

My advice to anyone considering suspension mods is, no matter how badly you want the car lowered, its just not worth the pain of having it not done right.. I think the stock Civic suspension and ride highth is very decent, looks and performance wise.. If you want to improve apon it, save at least 1,000 to do the spring/shock upgrade...good shocks are worth every penny
