knock sensor

I have a 1.6 SOHC and the wires to my knock sensor have been sniped, so in other words i have a "check engine lite" and my car is burning extremly rich, spitting out black soot all over other the place. Is this because of the knock sensor?? what exactly does that sensor do? and are they easy to replace?

knock sensor, can tell a knock or preignition in the bottom end and changes timing accordingly,

I believe a knock or ping is caused from fuel being ignited too early, or timing way wacked out.

well i dont for sure know what the cause of the soot is but all i can say is fix the wires cuz im pretty sure they are important.. maybe replacing the wires will fix it, seeing as how it should be fixed anyways

I'd recommend fixing those wires .... then reseting the ECU and see if the code stays cleared

The Correct Crank Sensor is installed now! i had an Integra one which only had 2 wires. The PROPER one for SOHC VTEC should have 3 WIRES

anyway so no what can i do to make the vtec activate or check?
