Just installed shifter stablizer bushings...but
everything feels crisper now but i'm still facing a problem. when the car is in gear the shift **** is still really loose. it's some other bushing that my auto teacher was pointing out to me but i don't know what it's called. its the bushing right under the shifter. does anyone know the part number for it?

well maybe your shift **** isn't on all the way....
theres only like 2 bushings on the shifter area
the wide bushing that attaches the shift linkage to the chasis
and the bushing that goes in he end of the shifter itself and attaches to the tranny, if you got a ES kit it comes with all of that

i never touched it's prob not that its not on all the way.
that's the one im talking about. i didn't get the ES kit because i didn't think that i'd need to replace this too. when i hold the shift linkage i can move it around a lot horizontally.

you can't really do much about that bushing unless you get a new OEM unit I guess, but i dont even know if they sell just the bushing itself.
its ok to have a little play, by the physical makeup of the shift linkage theres bound to be back and forth play

ya, I don't think your problem is where you make it out to be. have a buddy work the shifter while you check under the car for where the slop is. that way you can't go wrong with replacing random parts. just be safe and use jack stands.

I could be the bearing in the bottom of the shifter itself where the bolt in the picture goes through. When Matt, Ryanhook and I did Ryans shifter bushings last year, we noticed alot of play in the shifter once the ES bushings were in. Sure enough, it was the bearing. There are little rubber O-rings inside the bearing and they wear out too. You can buy replacement ones from Honda for dirt cheap. His car is 11 years old and I'm sure these o-rings are shiot just like Ryan's.

Parts #11 the bearing and #23 the O-rings. There really isn't any small pieces. #4 and #5 go on the ends and hold it together. I took mine apart very easily.
You could even look for any entire shifter inthe classifieds. I think Nova Dust had an OEM shifter for sale.
