Installing Coilovers, in the driveway

you dont "have" to use a spring compressor... but its definately advised you do... the stock springs are under intense pressure and when release the pressure it has to go somewhere.... there kinda a pissant to use but its your safety to think about... if a spring goes off in your face you'll look like micheal jackson for the rest of your life...

Can't u rent a spring compressor from crappy tire. I did my coilovers and my springs and struts in my driveway myself. Have fun with the LCA bolts that hold the shock to them. My advise if u are just doing coilovers on stock struts is drop the whole lower control arm down with the strut attached and take the spring off with the shock attached to the LCA. Then install coilover and install LCA with shock attached back into the car.

Canadian tire rents spring compressors for.. free... They make you put down 120 and then refund it in full when you bring it back. Its worth it seeing as it costs nothing and if you have to ask then you should go with the safe route.

I have an impact gun too, and used the spring compressor my very first and last time.. ever since i just shoot the springs into tire, its much faster and safer IMO because if your relying on the clamps to hold it down and are facing it towards your head and it breaks you can get hurt.
at least shotting them into a tire under control its away from you and if done right is not a big deal at all

easy 2 do
I agree GFL with the LCA bolts and as for a spring compressor I didn't use one just don't point it at yourself or anyone else and remove the bolt slowly holding the top hat and spring together with one hand so the strut faces down and will fire away from the assembly your holding. Trust me its not that violent anyway...hope this helps.

dude if you want to do your spings and dont want to use the compressor do this..... take the top bolts out and then grind out both sides of the stock sping, your spings will come out in to peices and NOTHING will come flying at you... also you wont have to take the LCA bolts out... then just slide the new coil on and do up the top bolts....
