Mileage: 683.7 kms.

Gas used: 39.15 litres

Car: EG sedan, auto, A/C, PS

Mods: I/H/E, Prokit, 205/40/16 Dunlop Sports

I commute to the GTA so 95% highway driving.
Topped off the tank, drove, refill.

I could hit 700 easily and 750 with bit of judicious behaviour.
800 is within reach with hard skinny tires.

How are you guys getting over 550-600kms?!?!

i have a 2000 si, with a d16y8 and just a performance exhaust.
ive owned the car now for about two months now and i think i got over 500kms once on a tank and i usually drive it down to about 5 litres left. i know tha tbecause i fill up about 40L in the 45L tank.
im averaging around 350-450, mixed city/highway
im at about a quarter of a tank and im only at 288kms!!!

must be my heavy foot?

very heavy foot by the sounds of it, i can usually always get 500km on 40L, even when absolutely flying on the 401. i don't downshift (rarely if i think the light will turn green before i get there) i put it in neutral and coast to the red light. i shft at 3000rpm and keep my car tuned up, if it needs something, it gets it. 1/4 tank with 288 is wow, i usually get 350 at half-tank.

maybe a tune-up with fuel filter is in order

ya i know, ive been getting used to the new car and i will admit driving it like a maniac, but i can tone it down now. my last car was a 93 DX HB and even tho this is only a d16 its lightyears from the last one (so i was loving driving it hard). i coast to the lights tooo, but then ppl always tell me that it saves your brakes to downshift(which makes sense). but i like the coasting hehe
so i guess my decision is saving gas now, or brakes in the long run

i will get that fuel filter checed out tho

thanks!!

yeah but its easier to change the brakes than it is to change a clutch.

I don't know how accurate my cluster is. It was a US Integra cluster and I last got just around 410 or so MILES. So about 656km. Is that about right?

93 Civic Hatch DX.

Other than resetting the trip odometer when the tank is full and recording the mileage when it is half, or almost completely empty is there anonther way to calculate litres/100km?

what i do is set the trip odometre when i fill up. drive till whenever. when i fill up again, i write down the miles driven and then the amount of gas it took (litres) to be back to full.

take the litres and divide by milage. 37L to do 555km looks like 37 divided by 5.55 = 6.66 (i got 6.66L/100km, pure highway)

dosen't matter how far you've gone, 1/4 tank, 1/2, etc...its still took this much gas for this far, so its accurate.

^^
Thanks I never thought of that, that makes it a lot easier to calculate gas mileage. This is a newb question but, when I fill the tank to full it will stop pumping gas, right? It won't overflow? I know thats how my dad's car works but I haven't tried it on mine yet. Thanks again.

96 si... i/h/e... two 12" subs at the back....... i shift at about 3500... about 14km/L... the best i had was just 550km on 38L

Nah, that's just the gas foaming and the nozzle sensing it. Give it a good half minute to settle and you can probably get another 3 litres or more in there.
