They also sell for less because they do not provide the same quality that the AGX do in any way. AGX is at least covered under warranty for 1.5" drop. GR2's are 10% stiffer then stock and are only recommended for stock replacement, not lowering. That's like saying Koni Red's are only cheaper then Yellow's because they're not adjustable or that Illuminas are more expensive then blues because of that which is totally false.

actually I'd say that about those examples....

just because it's adjustable doesn't mean it's built for a drop...

in order to do things right you need to get a shock valved for the spring rate your using .... which might I say is well beyond what anyone is going to do ... shocks are a wear item on cars they will wear out regardless of what type they are and who makes them....

UPDATE: the stealership wants roughly $90 a spring ... that's way too much for stock springs in my opinion. Looks like I'll be going with some used '96-'00 springs. I think I've managed to find some GR2's for under $400 for all 4 ... I'll probably go with these and the '96-'00 springs and maintain my stock ride height. I'll keep everyone posted if anything new comes up. Thanks.

But I'll trust your advice and call KYB and ask them why they're crappier shocks cost twice as much then the gr2's. There are other factors on these "cars" you've been in as well such as bushings etc. I had the gr2's and bumps that I could barely feel after installing the Illuminas made me hit my head off the roof of my car in the gr2's. I'd also like you to go anywhere on the internet on any board or whatever and find me 5 people that recommend GR2's with your setup.
In case you didn't notice I think I might have implied that I was talking about real life experience as well. For instance the hour and a bit of driving that I do on that setup every day commuting from downtown to Brampton. I hit a variety of road conditions at a variety of speeds and the ride is firm but smooth.

What springs were you using with your GR2's? Their rates will effect the ride in a big way.

You seem to have the impression that I'm some ****ing 16 year old who thinks his dropped Civic is mad tyte and that my suspension setup rox0rz everyone elses. To fill you in I'm a 26 year old engineer who does consulting in the automotive industry among others. I installed the suspension on my car and had a hand in the suspension install of two of the other cars which I mentioned. I know a thing or two about cars and I've driven enough of them to judge what is a smooth ride and what is not.

you have to consider all the factors that go into ride quality.
First: obviously the road conditions (pavement, concrete, pot-holes..etc). Second: rims/tire setup...the larger the rims and the thinner the sidewall of the tire the more ride quality deteriorates in terms of absorbing bumps. yes cornering ability improves but if u hit a bump you will feel it more the thinner the sidewall of your tire. Third: Suspension setup. Obviously the stiffer the springs and the dampers, the stiffer the ride will be for teh driver and occupants.

So when deciding what to do for your suspension you have to look at where u drive, what kind of driving you plan to do (track, highway, city). If you want my 2 cents...since you don't do any track or performance driving...i'd want the most comfortable ride possible in downtown..therefore i would stick a pure stock setup and the stock rims...if you are set on aftermarket dampers..then at least stick with a stock spring and rim

I had eibach sportlines with my GR2's. Worst ride quality known to man. Illuminas = didn't feel anything and took corners as hard as my crappy tires would allow. They might be decent on pro-kit but not sportlines.
