gas filling problem

hey

I have been having this problem, when I go to put gas in the car the pump stops every few dollars, its like the presure in the tank is to high. I know its not full, because it usually after driving several hundred kilometers, and the guage is down. My first guess is its something is blocked in one of the breather tubes but if it is, I don't know how to go about solving it. Has anybody else ever heard/had this happen?? oh, it had a new tank put on last year.

thanks

thanks for the suggestions, I will try them, I am also having a problem which I suspect is related, when the tank is full, I get a very small leak (the smell is there, and the ocational drip) till when the tank is about 7/8 full, then it goes away, I checked all the connections to make sure they are tight and they are (replaced several clamps), but I think it could be due to excess pressure in the tank when the tank is full, anybody have any ideas??? thanks...

Could be a tiny hole somewhere near the top of the tank...one of my buddies cant drive with more then 1/4 a tank or it will leak.

If you smell gas and see a drip - well then you have a leak. Drop the tank and locate the leak. If it is small, you can use seal all to fix that.

I already have a couple times, but I am pretty sure the leak is coming from one or all of the connections the to tank (near the front, filler tube, breather, and the emisions one), but I might have missed a small hole, maybe I will try again......

The hoses are cheap. Best to replace those first.
