you can just go to autometer.com/hp and on the left there is a menu... about 1/2 way down are the instructions!

or

red ~ ignition switched 12V+
black ~ ground
purple ~ O2 sensor signal wire

I tapped into the cig lighter power, grounded under the dash to a bare piece of metal, as for the signal I tapped into the O2 sensor itself. I forgot what wire it was though.

You do know that if you pick the wrong wire on the O2 sensor, that you can fuqk up the sensor?

The instructions should of told you that. You don't keep trying wires until it works.

By the way, do you have a 2 wire O2, or a 4 wire one?

If you have a 2 wire O2 sensor, then you could wait up to 2 minutes (or more) for the O2 to heat up......until it does, you will not get a proper reading on the gauge.

Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual for the car, and do it the right way.

Well, we did that same thing on a friends civic (the ecu way), and the A/F sensor never worked properly. My friend guessed that there must of been something interfering with the o2 sensor's reading, between the o2 sensor and the ecu. So we hooked it up directly to the o2 sensor. Problem solved.

The 4 wire one has a built in heating element, and this helps shorten the time it takes to get the sensor up to running temperature. It usually takes around 30 seconds on a 4 wire sensor to get it reading properly.

You have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

info

As an aside: When I had my O2 sensor hangin out of the exhaust piping, but still plugged in, I actually burnt my arm on my heated 02 sensor!!!

It gets super hot from its own heating.

I learn everything the hard way!

Anyways, my (4 wire OBD1 B18B) O2 sensor was connected from a splice I made (yes, with proper solder and heat shrink wrapping)to the white wire on the top of the sensor. Be absolutely sure that you use a CLEAN source for your constant +12V, and a really clean ground. I found that I had to directly ground the O2 gauge to the battery or else I got some interference and false readings.

It was easiest to make the connection from under the car, but, when soldering, watch out for falling drops of molten solder falling on your chest!

Hope that helps.

1. 1996-00 2nd O2 sensor white or green! they both send signals

2. 2002 RSX! this one is tricky!! also the 2nd O2 sensor, only its has black, blue, grey. THE SIGNAL wire is black!!! i don't know if this is the same for the 2002 civics??

3. 1992-95 i would assume that it was a white or green wire. and these Gen vehicles only had one O2? my b16A came out of a 94 In Japan its only one O2!

So if bluehatch get this... let me kno if number 3 is correct? and if it worked?
