port n polish?
ok, does someone know of any write-ups or articles, or can maybe tell me whats involved in a port n polish, like procedure, or anything like this
reason i ask is cuz ima machinist (apprentis )
and would like to know if its something i could do myself
with maybe some explenation or some general rules perhaps
(and my dads basicaly a backdoor mechanic with his own badass garage) so i figure with the two of us combined perhaps we can do a freebee for my car ,
assuming its doable
or is this laughable

i'm not sure of the professional definition but basically your supposed to smooth out the airways in and out of the head.... you can play with the 3d geometry of that area to increase power for certain engine types... like turbo or all motor....
you probably could do it yourself, but getting it done professionally would give the most gains from the job itself....

I'd really recommend saving up your money and building something significant... but here is a general guideline which is BY NO MEANS to be taken as "correct". THe ONLY correct way to do it is with a flow bench like Leitner Performance does it.
The general guideline I can give you is don't try to enlarge the ports and runners rather, keep them as original as possible with only minor work to enhance flow. Where you see casting burs, remove them, where you see flow restriction, remove it. Rework the shape of it, NOT the size. At the end, take a 60 grit roll and put a swirl finish on it to enhance mixing of fuel and air, and you're done.
Also read the article in archives I think now... about port matching.
