Exhaust Question

Exhaust Question
i have a 98 Coupe si. I was wondering what would happen if I moved my muffler from the rear to where the resonator is and just run a pipe the rest of the way to the back with a tip on the end. Would this cause any problems with back pressure or anything else. Sorry for asking such a stupid question. Also instead of running the rest of the exhaust to the back. I was thinking of running it to the sides if there is enought space under the car.
Thanks

let me guess you want the "race car" look while keeping the noise reduction stuff...(like the muffler) ....I think by moving it you would change the effectiveness of the muffler and what frequencies of noise it would kill...

I've actually found that the hot exhaust makes bolts and stuff hard to remove...you may not notice, but I found when doing my susp that bolts closer to the exhaust were hard to remove. So based on this, I would think it not wise to radically alter the location of the exhaust, nor to remove any heat shields... I found that the exhaust is quite low in the center section, which is what scrapes every time I go to the garage at work. So placing a muffler there would be a tight fit and would give you extremely low clearance. Plus not having a resonator would make your car sound like flatulence.
