this morning i went to start my car and i got nuthin.

the engine wants to start but it cuts out immediately...the battery is fine cuz my stereo, headlights and everythin else works.

I get this ****d up noise that sounds like a dry cough for a second when i first attempt to start but it only does it once.

i can hear the fuel pump prime, and when the cars turning over i can hear the fuel filter, and i can also hear something around the distributor.

i put in gasline antifreeze, checked all the fuses, check the ones under the hood and everythin seems fine.

anybody have any ideas?

also tried boosting it but still wont start

first of all, what kind of car is it?
check you main relay. Its in the underhood fuse box, try switchin it for another relay and see if that helps.

its a 1998 1.6EL, its got 155K.

i try that and see what happens.

unlikely starter

not relay... relay controls fuel pump, so if that primes the relay is good

when you say it WANTS to start.... what do you mean? cranks or not? or turns over once and then nothing or ?????

Why would it unlikely be the starter? Starters go all the damn time (even on honda/acura's).
