d15b is like two different motors, there is a d15b (sohc v-tec from japan that you would buy from used japanese auto parts) just like a stock Si motor (92-95) OR a d15b7 is a stock cx-dx 92-95 motor
hope that clears something up

mostly correct...

the d15b1 is the 8 valve motor from 88-91
the d15b2 is the 16 valve motor from 88-91
d15b6 = 8 valve motor in the crx HF 89-91
d15b7 = 16 valve motor from 92-95
d15b8 = 8 valve motor from 92-95

all without vtec.... now lets never talk about this motor ever again

simply put it's gearing ... lack of torque can be compinsated for with gearing your gears are tooo tall for the engine
