engine identity?

anybody know what a D15B is???

Whiplash 28-Aug-2003 08:30 PM

it's an engine..
can ya be a little more specific??
what is it you want to know about it??

imported_zc_hatch 28-Aug-2003 11:34 PM

offered from like 1988 or something till 200 i think lol

imported_Duge 28-Aug-2003 11:44 PM

d15b is like two different motors, there is a d15b (sohc v-tec from japan that you would buy from used japanese auto parts) just like a stock Si motor (92-95) OR a d15b7 is a stock cx-dx 92-95 motor
hope that clears something up

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 01:29 AM

mostly correct...

the d15b1 is the 8 valve motor from 88-91
the d15b2 is the 16 valve motor from 88-91
d15b6 = 8 valve motor in the crx HF 89-91
d15b7 = 16 valve motor from 92-95
d15b8 = 8 valve motor from 92-95

all without vtec.... now lets never talk about this motor ever again

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 01:32 AM

d15b3 = single carb motor of some sort

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 01:35 AM

d15b4 was from austrailia

imported_Joker 29-Aug-2003 02:56 AM

d15's are 1.5 L right?

imported_gatherer 29-Aug-2003 06:51 AM

yes 1.5 liters of pure raw super torque

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 09:29 AM

more like 1.5L of nothin :p

except your car jason cause you know how to drive it...

imported_gatherer 29-Aug-2003 09:47 AM

hey as long as you keep it between 4500 and 6800 RPM you will feel the torque... the gobs and gobs and gobs of torque

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 09:49 AM

how come my vtec monster doesn't have torque then??

imported_gatherer 29-Aug-2003 09:50 AM

simply put it's gearing ... lack of torque can be compinsated for with gearing your gears are tooo tall for the engine

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 09:53 AM

how come i didn't have any torque with my Si tranny then??

one word VTEC.... I dunno but when I drove your car I wanted to get out and push

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 10:00 AM

my car is faster then yours jason... and one reason... vtec :p

hahahaha

imported_gatherer 29-Aug-2003 10:04 AM

ok dude ... I'll make sure I'm there at then next drag day at cayuga..... I think my gearing will win the day

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 10:06 AM

that would be a good race i think actually...

it could be the late great gearing debate.... hahahaha

punkindrublic 29-Aug-2003 10:07 AM

i'm thinking of putting the Si tranny back on though.... since i'm not commuting to toronto everyday i can suffer with poor millage
