engine help:(

if you read my thread in the accident, insurance tickets section you can find out what happened to my car.

What i need to know is what if anything else is wrong with my car now.

To start off the top part of the rad that goes into the bushing connected to the frame is broken off and also all the green rad fluid has leaked out of the rad.

Also I belive its part of the A/c (thing attached to the frame beside the rad) is also twisted and im not sure if anything else is wrong.

The car also sounds really horrible right now, there is a loud noise that i cant figure out where its coming from but it gets louder when the car revs and the car sounds like its dieing.

I really hope its not the tranny because that would make things even better.

how much does a new rad usually cost?

NEW OEM? or new aftermarket?

OEM is like... $500+

new @ Canadian Tire is like $200 (Modine)

new performance like Flyidyne, Koyo or C&R is about $350USD

The sound you're talking about could be from a busted exhaust system. It is possible that your headers, downpipe, cat or mid-pipe got damaged due to the impact, and now is leaking and making the horrible sound...

any CEL? I mean, did you bust off your secondary O2? it's really hard to say? you gotta at least describe the noise. Have you looked under the car even? I'm sure your floorboards are fuct too. That's harsh... that level of damage would make me sell my car I think. I don't think I could live with knowing my car went through something like that. It's one of those things that's just not quite worth fixing. I mean, OUCH! Esp after all that beautiful body work was done.

Around the corner from Eglinton and Birchmount on Ashtonbee

I am talking about the NW corner here.

Place called Trust Auto on the South side of Ashtonbee.

It has a caryard to the side and some wrecks in the front.

Go ask for a dual core rad replacement (auto or manual)

Should be no more than $140-$150..

Make sure you agree on price before he gets it.

Takes about 20 minutes for them to grab one for you.

Sorry I don't have a number.

Easy to install if no support damage.

:P

Well i think my rad support or something is ****ed because my hood doesnt fit at all now. It is sitting about half an inch above where it should and even if i push down it doesnt fit right.

I cant really see the middle of the exhaust system because the car is low but it is a pretty high pitched whining sound. IF any of you have heard my car with my HO alt u know it whines like a supercharger but this sound is alot louder and higher pitched.

I can see the rock hit the rear tow hook and there looks to be a couple marks along the bottom of the car but nothing huge that i can see at the moment.

I am gonna remove my front bumper and see if i can find where the rad fluid leaked from. I shouldnt drive the car with no rad flluid right?

No cel's although i didnt really pay attention to the gauge cluster. I am kinda lucky because my front bumper is in the shop getting fixed and prepped to be chopped so i have my stock front bumper on and it wasnt damaged.

I am ****ing losing the drive to work on my car as its always something new going wrong every week.

thanks for the link aaron, if i can go there i will check it out.

ll i just took off the bumper and the plastic undercover and ****KKKKk.

The metal support has a HUGE dent in it, i cant find the source of the rad leak but i found the top stub that broke off. There looks like there is a HUGE ****ing dent in the floor boards about halfway down the car. ****KKKKKKKKKKKKK......oh yeah and i think maybe the rock hit the flange and exhaust pipe thats right under the engine.

I need some help ASAP guys.....

Shytti deal,

Take a time out for a bit, refocus your energy and get to work.
Write down what needs to be repaired and go over it when your head is a little clearer.

refrain from driving your car.

yeah, I'd def not drive the car in that condition. and NO you can't drive w/o coolant cuz then the EGT goes way up and you blow head gaskets.

I needa find a digital camera and get some pics for sure.

Im guessing this would be what needs to be fixed
-Rad support pulled or replaced?
-Radiator needs to be replaced
-exhaust heatshield is mangled
-look at floorboards more closey on a lift

hopefully thats it but i cant figure out whats making that noise with the engine.

from what im guessing to fix the front end properly its gonna be $1500ish to replace the rad support and pull the front end so it is perfect.

new rad will be around $100+

exhaust im not so sure about

Floor boards i cant really tell as i havent gotten a good look but i think theres a dent but i hope not.

Also for the engine i think the belts are misaligned because thats where the noise seems to be coming from.

The ministry will be hearing from me alot in the near future, maybe i should try and milk this and do an el front end

EL front end will end up about the same price... you're not milking anything, you want your car fixed... how you fix it is up to you, whether it's an EL front or not.

well i could get an (99-00)SiR front end for like $500 and but thats with aftermarket parts not OEM.

I think im gonna need to get a car to drive to get to work and wait for the ministry to pay for the damages because its gonna be alot more than i can afford to get the car fixed.

i really need someone to take a look at the engine because i cant see any belts rubbing visually and the rock hit the bottom of the engine so im not sure what it coulda ****ed up other than the heatshield on the exhaust.

I HIT A PORCUPINE AT 120KM BENT THE FRONT CROSSMEBER SCREWED MY RAD, BUSTED MY BUMPER AND FAN. HAD A REALLY BAD NOISE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS TURNED OUT TO BE THE WATER PUMP SINCE NO COOLANT WAS GOING THROUGH THE MOTOR. LUCKILY I DIDN'T RUN IT FOR LONG AFTER IT HAPPENED.

the water pump shoudl sound like gritty bearings when it fails...
but you shoudln't run the car more than 20 seconds without coolant... and that might even be too much

im gonna remove the rad tommorow, should i just visually check for punctures in it? In my haynes manual it says the water pump will have a howling sound when it is busted which could be used to describe the noise my engine is making.

if i put water in the rad and let it sit there for like 10 minutes and the water level goes down that means there is a leak in the rad correct? When i removed the rad i couldnt find any leaky hoses so im not sure why all the green rad fluid leaked out.

Also i know this is probably a dumb question but what is the reddish lookinh stuff that goes into the rad via the smaller hoses?
