ECU question
Ok, i bought my car about 2 months back and this problem is starting to **** me off...
The guy i bought the car from is from a car shop that i go to normally.
It's a 96 DX coupe.
He told me that he did an enginee swap, and it is now a Si enginee but with a DX ecu...
So now when ever i try to step on it, and as it reach 5300, my car slows down as if i was enginee braking, and it won't let me go pass 5300. It'd continue to ... rev up and down.
What's the problem?? How can i fix this?

chipping obd2 ecus is very difficult and i don't know anyone who does it.
You can however get an obd2a-obd1 ecu conversion harness and a p28 to run your vtec engine. Or just get the obd2a sohc vtec ecu (P2P).

I would start by looking at the number on your ecu to make sure it is a vtec ecu?
If you car is obd 2 then there should a diagnostic port under your dash, your manual will give you a better idea. If it is an obd 1 ecu then I woudl recomend you go to honda tech, under the eg section there is a wonder site on how to check your codes as It is to hard to explain.
As for the conversion from obd 2 -1 I just did it and ran into many problems that no on seems to know how to fix so you could just be opening a whole new can of worms. Hope this is some help

Could you check your engine code (located on the engine block left side beside the transmission). Also can you check the code on the ECU itself. I would assume it's a sticker? I really don't know.
Plus if there's other stuff under the hood that doesn't work, you might want to find a new shop to deal with. (IMO)
Anything after 5500rpms is vtec range. Since your car bogs down, etc. Your vtec isn't engaging due to you either HAVE the WRONG ECU installed or the vtec stuff isn't hooked up correctly under the hood.
