Doin up my suspension... help with parts

i want it o handle really good but still be drivable for my daily driver. i want to keep the price lower than 1500$ for all of the suspension stuff... so no tein stuff lol help me out guys!

imported_mugen_r 01-Oct-2003 05:26 PM

get the TEIN basic suspension, it's around 1200.00(I think)

Don't go cheap, I bought Tokico Blues and Toms coilovers and its an OK ride but I wouldn't buy this setup again.

Or buy Koni's

Astroboy 01-Oct-2003 05:56 PM

1500 for just springs and shocks or are you including tie and/or tower bars? If your planning on going the spring route, first decide how much of a drop you want, then see what springs will give you a drop in that range. Stick to quality springs like H&R, Progress or Suspension Techniques, etc...

The tein basics would be a good choice since its just a daily driver. If you want sleeves, I would go with ground control or skunk2 matched with either AGX or yellows.

Ground Controls & Whites/Yellows make a nice setup.

imported_zc_hatch 01-Oct-2003 09:20 PM

i don't really have anything planned... want it to handle as good as it can for 1500$ or less.

dingus8 01-Oct-2003 11:22 PM

I'd say ground controls (cause you can get different spring rate) and soem koni yellows or tokico illumina's or atleast kyb agx...or jsut get soem h&R sports with agx's which woudl be a nice mild setup that will handle very well....oh ya tires are a nother consideration to...so dont' go cheap on them

imported_zc_hatch 02-Oct-2003 09:49 AM

i have tires and rims(thanks tman!) now i want to improve the handling... the 1500 would be before taxes!

imported_gatherer 02-Oct-2003 10:18 AM

ok this is what I'd recommend...

AGX or Koni Yellows... (950 for yellows or at the group buy 800)

then get some Eibach springs same size as your stock ones but stiffer... I'd say 300f 450r .... I dunno the price.... or get some ITR springs they are 300F and 300R

if you go with the ITR springs then get a 22mm progress suspension rear sway bar. (350 last I asked a friend for a quote)

then I'd suggest a Neuspeed front and rear tower bar..

and I'd suggest really good rubber.... since winter is coming bizzacks... for summer a high performance summer tire...

bbarbulo 02-Oct-2003 10:50 AM

your car is an 88?

I would consider all new bushings, AGX shocks, and Eibach Pro-Kit springs... and Progress sway bars.

 Dam thats high, who quoted that price?

bbarbulo 02-Oct-2003 01:57 PM

why Astroboy, what can you do for the Progress rear sway bar, pricewise? I have the SiR front + back currently, and I may consider an upgrade... naturally, I'd need the subrame reinforcement as well, Beaks or if Progress makes one (I know they do for the 03 SiR, but haven't seen one for the 6th gen EJ)

bbarbulo 02-Oct-2003 01:59 PM

oh, and is your price for the adjustable or non-adjustable unit? :)

Astroboy 02-Oct-2003 02:04 PM

bbarbulo

Yup, the EP/DC5 is the only one that includes the chassis reinforcement. Gimme a sec and I'll send you a price on the EK rear sway bar.

imported_gatherer 02-Oct-2003 02:10 PM

AstroBoy it was quoted about 8 months ago .... and it was a special application not the standard size they make for my car... I'm not going to name who quoted me that because I'm not in the mood to stir the **** (plus I stirred it yesterday it's someone elses turn)

my car is honda civic CX and has no sway bars ... I want a 22mm rear sway bar... with reinforcement. the standard that progress makes for my car is 19 I believe

Astroboy 02-Oct-2003 02:18 PM

I'm pretty sure for the 5th gen CX they have a 22mm bar and an adjustable 24mm bar :)

imported_Torrey 02-Oct-2003 02:40 PM

I found a great deal...

Eibach Pro-kit- $307.20
Sportline-kit- $ 286.80
KYB Adjustable- $187.00 Front $172.00 Rear
non Adjustale - $ 101.94 each corner
Koni yellows- $ 225.00 each corner

I'm getting the eibach prokit and KYB non adjustibles.

imported_zc_hatch 02-Oct-2003 06:47 PM

hmm im looking for about 1-1.75" drop and a good tight ride. something i can take to the track... i guess i will have to do my susension in stages to get good stuff

bbarbulo 03-Oct-2003 08:18 AM

then do the H&R springs if you want a stiff ride... and use KYB AGX for your budget, use left over money for a rear sway bar and a front Neuspeed strut tower brace, and a front lower tie bar.

imported_gatherer 03-Oct-2003 08:58 AM

if your looking to track the car drop is not as important as Spring rates....
