dohc zc is knocking

dohc zc is knocking
there is a significant knock in my dohc zc and it is not the engine timing. what are some possibilities and what steps should i take from here?

does it increase with rpm's? Could be piston slap..

yes it does increase with rpms., but it's loudest at idle
